Tena koutou nga uri a Paoa
Last year Ngaati Paoa had the honour of hosting the inaugural Matariki celebrations in partnership with Auckland Council.
It was a great opportunity to share our stories and a way to raise the profile of mana whenua within the Taamaki area.
This year it is the role of our whanaunga, Ngaati Manuhiri, to host the 2017 event.
For Ngaati Paoa, our role is to be involved in the hand over of Matariki to this year's hosts, and there are two key dates as part of that hand over.

For Ngaati Paoa, our role is to be involved in the hand over of Matariki to this year's hosts, and there are two key dates as part of that hand over.
The first is the Matariki Festival launch to be held next Thursday evening, 1st June, at the Auckland Town hall where the ceremonial transfer of festival hosting will take place.
The second key event is the Matariki Dawn Karakia to be held on Saturday 10th June at Taawharanui, also important for Ngaati Paoa to support.
If you would like to attend either or both of these key events, please both attachments below for details and RSVP to the Matariki event organisers. We note that the RSVP dates are tight, so please specify that you are from Ngaati Paoa when you reply as it is important that our people are there to support in our role in the transfer of the hosting of this special event.
