Descendants of Takarangi will be particularly interested in this event. Takarangi married Patuone as result of a peace pact arranged by Te Rauroha and Hongi Hika between Ngāti Paoa and Ngāpuhi. At their marriage, they were both given additional baptismal names - Riria ( Lydia) Takarangi and Eruera Maihi (Edward Marsh) Patuone.
Takarangi was the sister of Kupenga Te Waero. Kupenga and Takarangi are descended from Te Waero.
