Below is a quick brief of the changes :
Changes Te Ture Whenua Māori Act will be proposed to make it easier for Māori landowners to use their whenua, whilst still safeguarding it as a taonga tuku iho.
The changes also propose a new Māori Land Service giving owners easier access to land information in one place.
A new draft Bill will soon be released along with a document that summarises the proposed changes. This document will guide kōrero at a series of public consultation hui to be held in Tāmaki Makaurau.
