Please find attached the Pest Management information provided to us as one of the Mana Whenua iwi of the Hunua Ranges.
Discussions with Department of Conservation and Auckland Council have been had over the past 6 months to address the pests i.e. rats, rodents, possums, etc that are killing our native bird and wildlife in the Hunua Ranges.
After long discussions and debates Ngaati Paoa and the mana whenua iwi have agreed to a carefully managed 1080 drop in the Hunua Ranges with the view of a sustainable ongoing maintenance and eradication of pests that are seriously affecting the area of Kohukohunui.
Auckland Council staff have visited and informed the Wharekawa Marae Committee of the proposed 1080 drop recently.
